ExxonMobil Pub Features Alabama AP Success
01-14-2013
A+ College Ready program schools were featured in a recent publication for ExxonMobil employees and shareholders around the world. The publication, The Lamp, not only published a four-page spread on Advanced Placement work, but used both inside covers to advertise the National Math & Science Initiative (NMSI) programs, AP and UTeach -- a training program helping to increase the number of highly-qualified math and science teachers in America. "It's a signal honor to be featured in The Lamp, which reaches a global audience," said NMSI Director of Communications, Rena Pederson. A photo of Stanhope Elmore High School calculus teacher, Karen Naquin, was featured on the story's front page, and most of the story highlights the successful work and remarkable results of AP in Alabama. "What began as a ripple is now a wave of academic achievement for Alabama," states the story's author, Tracy Torma. "During the past four years, Alabama has ranked number one among all 50 states in the percent increase in qualifying scores on Advanced Placement exams in math, science, and English."
