Birmingham City Schools

Lead Teacher:

English:
Ada Blair
has been teaching in Birmingham City Schools for 20 years and has been teaching AP English Literature and Composition for 4 years.  As the English Lead Teacher for Birmingham City Schools, she will teach AP English Lit at Wenonah High School. She received National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in December of 2006.  Ms. Blair’s impact on her students was spotlighted in Parade Magazine in 1989, in The Birmingham News in 1995 and in The Birmingham Times in 2008.  She has received fellowships to attend institutes sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities in Birmingham, AL; Charlottesville, VA; and Tuscaloosa, AL; and attended The Liverpool Black Roots Summer School Program in Liverpool, England.  Ms. Blair has also participated in The National Writing Project at Jacksonville State University and at Samford University.

Math:
Lee Ann Latta teaches at Ramsay High School in the Birmingham City School System and has been teaching for 13 years.  In that time she has taught every math class offered by her school system.  She has been teaching Advanced Placement Calculus for 5 years and currently teaches AP Calculus AB.

Ada Blair
